Infrared Sauna Therapy

Available at our Portland location.

Unlike a traditional sauna that heats the air around you, an infrared sauna uses light waves to heat your body directly. The result is a deeper, more effective session at a lower ambient temperature — so you get the therapeutic benefits without feeling like you’re sitting in an oven.

At Abrahamson Chiropractic & Wellness, infrared sauna therapy is available as a standalone service or as a complement to your chiropractic care plan.

How Infrared Sauna Therapy Works

Infrared light penetrates the skin and raises your core body temperature from the inside out. This increases blood flow, promotes sweating, and triggers many of the same physiological responses your body has during moderate exercise — without the physical strain.

Our Portland office uses a Sunlighten infrared sauna, which offers full-spectrum infrared (near, mid, and far wavelengths), each targeting different therapeutic benefits.

“Dr. Dave is amazing! He has helped with my pain from working in the hair industry for 33 years…he cares and I am so thankful he is in Portland. The atmosphere is so professional and friendly. I tell everyone I know about Dr. Dave!”

What Infrared Sauna Therapy Can Help With

Pain and inflammation relief — Infrared heat increases circulation and delivers more oxygen to tissues, which can help reduce inflammation and ease muscle and joint pain. Many patients use sauna sessions alongside chiropractic adjustments to extend their relief between visits.

Muscle recovery — Increased blood flow helps muscles repair faster after exercise, injury, or a physically demanding day. This is why infrared saunas are widely used by athletes during training and rehabilitation.

Stress and mood — The deep warmth of an infrared session activates your body’s relaxation response. Patients often report improved sleep, reduced tension, and a general sense of calm after regular use.

Circulation and heart health — Infrared therapy has been shown to temporarily improve circulation and support cardiovascular function, similar to the effects of light exercise.

Immune support — Raising your core body temperature mimics the body’s natural fever response, which can support immune function and help you recover faster from illness.

Who Benefits from Infrared Sauna Therapy

Infrared sauna therapy works well for patients dealing with chronic pain, muscle soreness, stress, or inflammation — and for anyone looking for a recovery tool that doesn’t require physical exertion. It pairs especially well with chiropractic care and spinal decompression therapy as part of a broader treatment plan.
